The ICBSS as an independent research and training institute aims to continuously advance and to share its expertise on the wider Black Sea region and its cooperation dynamics. It has therefore developed and continues to update a series of programmes that touch upon the full range of thematic research priorities. Each of these programmes also has a specific intrinsic purpose and all of them contribute to the ICBSS’ principle aim, namely to foster multilateral cooperation in the wider Black Sea region. Current programmes include:
 The ICBSS Flagship Events: ICBSS Annual Conference and ICBSS Annual Lecture
The Black Sea Research Network: a multidisciplinary system of research institutes in the wider region
The Task Force on a joint Black Sea strategy
The ICBSS Outreach Programme: engaging leading experts and local stakeholders in debates on regional affairs
Aside from its regular programmes, the ICBSS also organises and/or supports other activities (e.g. conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.) related to its fields of interest, both institutionally and through individual members of its staff. The ICBSS welcomes requests for partnerships and gladly discusses any such proposals.
