“Investing in Human Capital in the South East Europe: The dynamic role of women and the youth”

Round Table Discussion on

“Investing in Human Capital in the South East Europe: The dynamic role of women and the youth”

Athens, Tuesday 1 April 2014

Human Capital constitutes a valuable factor in the process of economic, political and social transformation. The economic challenges of the past years have revealed a need for policy actors, namely states, stakeholders, civil society, academia, to go beyond the classical perception of economic growth and to focus more on the empowerment of human capital as key element for achieving sustainable development. The adoption of a human-centered action plan and the investment on human resources, and in particular on women and the youth, will create favourable conditions for economic and social stability that, in the long term, will result in development and sustainability.

The main objective of the event is to foster dialogue, to identify the current challenges and future opportunities for the empowerment of human capital, especially women and the youth, in South East Europe and the wider Black Sea region, and to promote best practices, aiming at strengthening economic and social structures in order to achieve development and sustainability.
