Blast from the Past!
This infographic includes cultural highlights from the Russian Federation. In particular:
Literature
- Fyodor Dostoevsky, novelist, short story writer and essayist, one of the greatest writers of all time.
- Ivan Bunin, poet and novelist, the first Russian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1933) and one of his country's finest stylists.
- Boris Pasternak, poet, novelist and literary translator, the second Russian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1958).
Music
- Balalaika, a stringed musical instrument of the lute family.
- Sergei Rachmaninoff, composer, pianist and conductor, one of the world's greatest pianists. His Second Piano Concerto is widely regarded as the greatest piano concerto of all time.
- Maya Mikhailovna Plisetskaya, ballet dancer and choreographer, one of the most important prima ballerinas of her generation.
- Feodor Chaliapin, opera and chamber singer, famous for establishing the tradition of naturalistic acting in his art.
Museum
- State Hermitage Museum, one of the largest museums in the world with a collection of more than 3 million works of art.
