Ms. Georgia Chantzi
Research and Policy Development Manager
Ms. Georgia Chantzi is responsible for the development and implementation of the scientific activities and programmes of ICBSS, including managing research projects. She has more than 10 years experience in project management from various funding frameworks, such as H2020, FP7, BSEC HDF, CEI. Her expertise includes Black Sea regional cooperation, EU–Black Sea cooperation, blue growth, science and technology, and transnational organised crime.
Her other area of responsibility includes providing secretarial support to the ICBSS Board of Directors. Georgia also runs the Centre’s annual ‘BSEC Month of Culture’.
Prior to joining ICBSS in 2010, she has worked at the Hellenic Management Association, and has interned as junior researcher at the Centre for Russia, Eurasia and SE Europe (CERESE), in Athens. She holds an MA in Terrorism, International Crime and Global Security from Coventry University, UK and a BA in International and European Studies from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Greece.
Ms. Athina Korovesi
Communications and Public Relations Manager
Ms. Athina Korovesi joined the ICBSS on January 2013. She is responsible for the communication of ICBSS, including handling press enquiries, media relations management and social and digital media. Her other areas of responsibilities include administration and logistics for the Centre’s events, accounting support, as well as providing secretarial support to the Director General’s office. In September 2019, Athina elected Head for Southern and Western Greece of the "Anna Lindh Foundation Greek Network", with the ICBSS as Focal Point.
She holds two masters degrees, the Executive MSc. in European Studies from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and a MA in Journalism and New Media (MA) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), as well as a Bachelor in International and European Studies from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens.
On 2011, she had an internship at ICBSS and on 2013 at the english spoken news bulletin “NEWS 4U” of the internationally broadcast channel “ERT World” run by Greece’s national broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT). She was a researcher at the Institute of International Relations in Greece. Athina has also collaborated with tv channels and news websites as columnist, journalist, and international affairs analyst. She has attended numerous conferences and seminars.
Ms. Elpida Besi
Junior Project Manager
Ms. Elpida Besi is responsible for the administrative support of projects’ implementation, including related research activities and the organisation of events.
Prior to joining the ICBSS, in 2021, she has interned at the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has written articles for the Electionsnet.org. In 2020, Elpida was a finalist of the 10th Cycle of ReGeneration and, participated in two projects of KINITRO Non-Profit Organization. She has attended many conferences and online courses. She holds a BA in International, European and Area Studies from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Greece.
