
Webinar “Enhancing Knowledge for the EU Accession Negotiation Process: Fisheries”

On 20 June 2025, the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) in cooperation with the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, organised a webinar on the topic "Best European Practices for Developing Administrative and Institutional Capacity for Managing and Regulating Fishing Activities".
More than 60 participants from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine participated at the webinar that focused on key regulatory and management frameworks for Fisheries, such as the Common Fisheries Policy, the Data Collection Framework and the Fisheries Control Regulation.
Presentations were delivered by Dr. Gabriela OANTA, Professor of Public International Law at the University of A Coruña, Spain; Dr. Kolyo ZHELEV and Dr. Simona NICHEVA from the Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture (IARA), Bulgaria; and Mr. Pedro GALACHE, Head of Unit Strategy and Cooperation at the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA).
The webinar is part of the newly launched joint initiative ‘Enhancing Knowledge for the EU Accession Negotiation Process’ developed by ICBSS in cooperation with the Research Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, including a series of capacity building activities on the EU acquis chapters.
