51st CPMR GENERAL ASSEMBLY
15-17 November 2023 | Saint-Malo, France
On 15-17 November 2023, the ICBSS Director General, Mr. Georgios Mitrakos participated at the 51st General Assembly of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR), held in Saint-Malo, France.
The 51st General Assembly hosted seminars, working groups and meetings where specialists, academics and diplomats from around the world engaged in stimulating discussions on pertinent topics, such as energy and transport, climate change and solidarity between regions.
Furthermore, within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between ICBSS and the CPMR Balkan and Black Sea Commission (BBSC), Mr. Mitrakos was invited as speaker at the Plenary Session of the BBSC CPMR to present the latest and future activities of ICBSS, as well as opportunities for further cooperation.
The CMPR dates back to 1973, when the 1st Assembly took place, also in Saint-Malo. Representing about 200 million people, the CPMR campaigns in favour of a more balanced development of the European territory. It operates both as a think tank and as a lobby for Regions. Under the motto "All Territories Matter", it promises to reiterate its call for the meaningful involvement of regional authorities in implementation, the thorough respect of multilevel governance and the full participation of regional authorities in policy-making.
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions, friends and representatives of CPMR members, as well as the Director General of ICBSS, Mr. George Mitrakos, expressed their best wishes for an even longer and more successful future by sending congratulatory videos, which were posted on the CPMR website.
