On 13 March 2024, the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) hosted a closed round-table discussion with the participation of a group of renowned experts from The Three Seas Initiative Research Center of the Institute of Political Studies of Polish Academy of Sciences (ISP PAN).
The event was held within the framework of a study visit to Greece of 15 experts from Polish research institutes, led by Prof. Ms. Agnieszka Orzelska – Stączek (ISP PAN), with the aim to discuss regional cooperation under the Three Seas Initiative (3SI), on the occasion of Greece becoming the 13th Member State of the Initiative in 2023.
Discussions underlined the importance of inter- and intra-regional cooperation in policy, socioeconomic, and research spheres, as well as the key role of networks and knowledge exchange. Conclusions reaffirmed the role of research institutes, such as ICBSS and ISP PAN, in maintaining active channels of cooperation even in times of crises.
The Three Seas Initiative is a project of cooperation aimed to improve connectivity between the north and south of the eastern part of the EU. In line with ICBSS’ objectives to promote synergies across regions, the Research Centre of the Three Seas Initiative aims to develop scientific research and promote knowledge about the cooperation of thirteen EU Member States of the Three Seas Initiative located between three European seas: the Baltic, the Adriatic and the Black Sea.
