14th International Black Sea Symposium
Black Sea: Approaching a tipping point?
Tuesday 2 December 2025 | Online only
The International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) launched the International Black Sea Symposium project with the aim to provide a platform for dialogue and transnational cooperation in the wider Black Sea region. The 14th International Black Sea Symposium (IBSS) builds on the success and positive impact of its previous editions and invites regional and international stakeholders with an interest in the Black Sea area to explore the evolving geopolitical landscape of the Black Sea, its rippling effects and broader implications for the wider region.
More about the 14th IBSS
A pivotal geostrategic crossroad connecting Asia with Europe, the Black Sea region does not exist in isolation. Challenges like war, climate change, economic uncertainty, migration, are truly global, transcending borders, cultures, and languages. Amidst rising regional risks, the Black Sea faces a geopolitical turning point with implications that go beyond the region. With new partnerships emerging and established alliances being tested, understanding the evolving geopolitical shifts is key to building resilience, promoting regional interests, and supporting a stable international environment.
The 14th IBSS will provide a dialogue platform for regional and international experts to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in the wider Black Sea region; assess the strategies and interests of major actors, including the Black Sea countries, the BSEC Organisation, the EU, and other regional cooperation frameworks; and foster policy recommendations aimed at strengthening resilience in response to changing geopolitical dynamics.
The 14th International Black Sea Symposium on “Black Sea: Approaching a tipping point?” will be held on Tuesday 2 December 2025.
The event’s working language will be English. The event will be held online only.
