Art – Romania
“Cu drag din Sulina” (translated as “With Love from Sulina”) is a non-profit organisation based in Sulina, the only city located in the heart of the Danube Delta. Its mission is to promote environmental awareness and cultural appreciation through art, education, and community engagement.
The organisation combines creativity and sustainability by transforming recycled materials into meaningful artworks. By engaging children, youth, and adults from diverse backgrounds in hands-on workshops and educational programmes, discarded plastic bottles collected from the Danube Delta are transformed into colourful earrings, brooches and small sculptures. This illustrates how waste can be reimagined as art through innovation and resourcefulness.
Since its establishment, members of "Cu drag din Sulina" have participated in cultural and environmental initiatives across Romania. These include community festivals, ecological campaigns and exhibitions that emphasise both the beauty of the Danube Delta and the importance of its protection.
“Cu drag din Sulina” is a women-led organisation. Acknowledging the ongoing challenges faced by women in creative fields, the team works to demonstrate the transformative power of art as a means of expression, dialogue, inclusion, and collective action. In doing so, they affirm that women’s voices are vital in shaping a more sustainable and equitable future.
A message from the “Cu drag din Sulina” Team:
“We look forward to connecting with others who share this vision and to continuing our journey toward a more beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive world. We believe that the future of art lies in these intersections—where creativity meets purpose, and where collective imagination leads to real-world change”.
