Art – Republic of Serbia
Today, let’s discover the magic of glass art!
Aleksandar M. Lukić is a talented Serbian glass artist working with stained glass and kiln-formed glass. As he describes, “Glass is a magical material that is both perfect and durable, yet delicate and fragile. When the light passes through the glass, it is as if a door opens to new dimensions”.
The glass artist began his career in 2004 and has gained international recognition for his unique style and skill in creating with this material. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and galleries around the world, including Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Lukić creates large-scale glass installations and sculptures. He also produces smaller, more intimate works, such as vases, bowls and jewellery.
His artistic style is characterised by bold shapes, vibrant colours and intricate detail. He draws inspiration from nature and uses a wide range of techniques to create his works of art.
Bonus Trivia!
As Lukić explains, in order to fuse glass of different colours, the pieces must have the same technical characteristics. Even if window glass is formed in a kiln, it can only be joined properly if it comes from the same manufacturer.
BONUS!
If you are in Subotica, don't miss the opportunity to visit Lukić's studio for a 60-minute guided tour!
You will be immersed in the magical world of glass through a tour of four rooms, where you will get a behind-the-scenes look at the artist's working process and see the materials and tools he uses, as well as his current projects. Visitors can also see photographs of his previous projects and a permanent exhibition of his work.
The tour is free but must be booked in advance. It is available in both Serbian and English. Check it out!
