Drum roll, please…here is the BBB Best Film winner!

The 14th Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival took place and the short film of the Republic of North Macedonia was awarded the BBB Best Film award.

The short film, entitled ‘’Only the Devil Hates Water’’, directed by Lidija Mojsovska, was distinguished for showing how easily gossip can turn into prejudice and prejudice into stigma, a process which can interfere in the beautiful love of friendship and neglect a child’s precarious domestic situation. Through an understated narrative and convincing performances of two young non-professional actors, the director and the scriptwriters brought the attention to this ever present issue.

The 14th BBB Short Film Festival was held in Montenegro, from 11 to 14 October 2023. This year, the Festival featured a program of 33 short films, which illuminated a wide variety of stories and experiences from the Balkan region.
