2023 marks the 25th Anniversary of the International Centre for Black Sea Studies!
Founded in 1998 as a non-profit organisation, the ICBSS has since fulfilled a dual function a) as an independent research and training institution focusing on the wider Black Sea region, and b) as a related body of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and its think-tank.
In its 25 years, the ICBSS has been established as a dynamic focal point for advanced knowledge and capacity-building initiatives in the wider Black Sea region, while enabling stimulating dialogue and effective synergies at both regional and international levels. At the same time, to this day, the ICBSS continues to foster a constructive role within the BSEC Organisation, as an active member of the BSEC family.
As a new era begins, the success of the past years will be the driving force for the future. In a continuously changing international environment, the ICBSS remains true to its objective: to enhance knowledge through research and to foster multilateral cooperation among the BSEC Member States, regional and international stakeholders, with a view to contributing to mutual understanding and trust building in the wider Black Sea region.
On this significant occasion, the ICBSS would like to highly acknowledge and thank past and present staff members for their commitment and dedication to work that have been pivotal to ICBSS’ success.
In celebration of this important milestone, we are planning various activities throughout the year that will be announced on the ICBSS website and social media in due course.
We look forward to sharing the celebrations with our 12 Member States, the BSEC family and all the ICBSS colleagues and friends!
