The Georgian Chairmanship-in-Office got officially underway during the “Coordination Meeting of the BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office, the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials, BSEC Related Bodies and the BSEC PERMIS” held online on 12 July 2021.
The Meeting was the first official event attended by the BSEC PEMIS Secretary General Ambassador Lazar COMANESCU, after assuming office on 1 July 2021.
The Secretary General, in his introductory remarks, expressed how honored he was by the trust and confidence bestowed upon him by the Member States. He underlined that his guiding line all throughout his tenure, with the valuable support of the Member States, would be to deliver an ever more assertive, dynamic and project oriented BSEC.
The Secretary General warmly congratulated the Georgian Chairmanship, conveyed the best wishes of the Secretariat for a most successful mandate and reiterated that the Chairmanship could count on the full support and close collaboration of the PERMIS to contribute to the fulfilment of their mandate during the next six months.
The Meeting was chaired by the Representative of the Georgian BSEC Chairmanship-in-Office Mr. Noshrevan LOMTATIDZE, Director of the Department of International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
Mr. Noshrevan Lomtatidze presented the Georgian Priorities under the motto “The Black Sea – Waves of Innovation”.
The Georgian Chairmanship stated that they would focus on achievable, practical and visible priorities contributing to the sustainable development of the wider Black Sea region, post-Covid economy building and result oriented regional cooperation. Tourism industry, innovative resources and technologies and renewable sources of energy were highlighted as the three main thematic areas of the Georgian Chairmanship. The Georgian Chairmanship also added that they would seek to further strengthen BSEC-EU cooperation.
