The International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) launched the International Black Sea Symposium project with the aim to provide a platform for dialogue and transnational cooperation in the wider Black Sea region. Now, in its thirteenth edition, the International Black Sea Symposium (IBSS) built on the success and positive impact of its previous editions and invited regional and international stakeholders with an interest in the Black Sea area, to exchange on the effects of economic, environmental and geopolitical crises in the Black Sea region.
More about the 13th IBSS
The Black Sea region, a pivotal geostrategic crossroad connecting Asia with Europe, is acknowledged as an important trade hub and energy corridor, with rich natural resources and cultural heritage. Over the past years, the region’s increasing geopolitical instability is further amplified by the effects of climate change and other human driven stressors, thus hampering sustainable economic growth and human development.
The 13th IBSS brought together seventy regional and international stakeholders to exchange on regional challenges and discuss rising opportunities in a continuously unstable environment, in relation to economic, geopolitical and environmental perspectives.
The 13th International Black Sea Symposium on “The Black Sea in crises: challenges and opportunities in an unstable environment” was held on 2 November 2023, in Athens, Greece.
The event’s working language was English.
