Μuseum - Georgia
The Georgian State Museum of Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography-Art Palace is a great depository of different cultural objects. This is the only museum of its kind in the whole Caucasus region and it is one that equals the world's leading museums in the wealth and wide variety of its collection. The museum is housed in one of the most beautiful buildings in Tbilisi, which was designed by Paul Stern, a well-known architect of the time, and constitutes a unique example of Gothic and Islamic architecture. Art Palace comprises more than 300,000 objects that provide comprehensive information on the development of Georgian theatre, cinema, circus, folklore, opera and ballet. Moreover, the collections provide insight into the artists’ lives and masterpieces. The manuscripts of Ilia Chavchavadze, the personal archives of Dimitri Arakishvili, theatre and film costumes, 17th -century Persian miniatures, and the paintings and graphics of Léon Bakst are only some of the exhibits that visitors can see.
