As December is just around the corner, let’s see a delicious Christmas sweet from Greece!
Kourabiedes (Greek: κουραμπιές, κουραμπιέδες), a typical Greek Christmas treat, are crispy and buttery shortbread cookies, which are traditionally prepared with a rich dough incorporating ground almonds, butter and various flavorings, such as vanilla or strong brandy. Moreover, some variations occasionally employ walnuts. Kourabiedes are usually shaped into crescent or round shapes, and they are generously coated in powdered sugar. Even though these famous cookies are a classic Christmas sweet, they are also associated with many other special occasions.
Enjoy!
