6th BSEC Month of Culture
1-30 November 2022
Iter Vitis Route
Launched by the Council of Europe in 1987, the Cultural Routes demonstrate, by means of a journey through space and time, how the heritage of the different countries and cultures of Europe contributes to a shared and living cultural heritage.
Today, we introduce to you the Iter Vitis Route (2009) that aims to safeguard wine biodiversity and to boost a new travel perspective.
The spirit of Iter Vitis is that of uniting in a “global journey”. Across the Iter Vitis Route, the traveller can discover remote lands from the Caucasus to Western European vineyards, learn about cultivation techniques, vinification, storage and transport, and become familiar with the myths and symbols around this rich culture.
Bonus trivia! In the Iter Vitis 2022 Awards ➡
- Moldova (with Vinopera by Castel Mimi) won Best Wine Tourism Event prize.
- Azerbaijian Tourism Board won Best emerging wine tourism destination award.
- Georgia Technical University won Best University award for working on the promotion of wine tourism.
