Cultural Routes-European Fairy Tale Route
On the occasion of the United Nations World Children’s Day (20 November), let’s explore the European Fairy Tale Route (2022), another one newly certified CoE Cultural Route, promoting a new type of cultural and experiential tourism, where emotion and imagination are at the heart of the journey!
The BSEC country joining the European Fairy Tale Route is Greece with the myth of Odysseus, the hero of Homer's epic poem entitled ‘’The Odyssey’’.
Fairy tales are an important part of the collective imagination and local culture. They echo stories that people have shared from ancient times to the present day, very often in a common context.
The European Fairy Tale Route is based on this common tangible and intangible heritage, bringing together fairy tale books and their renowned authors, myths, folklore and oral narratives of the past. Thanks to this rich literature heritage, the Route is devoted to children education and the transmission - to children and adults - of fundamental values, such as solidarity and equity.
Bonus Trivia!
Last year, two Greek cities, Volos and Thessaloniki, hosted a wonderful Pinocchio Theme Park. You can take a stroll in Volos theme park, created for the Christmas Holidays, through this video.
